Biscayne Skate Park Project, Miami

A new planned skate park for Miami skaters has hit a recent bump and the world skateboard community should know about it!

For a few years now the City of Miami has been working with members of the skateboard community in Miami on the Biscayne Skate Park project.  The project is still in the bid selection process however recently "a small but extremely vocal group of well connected citizens" are trying to stall the process.  This opposition group has been working clandestinely in spreading rumors, complaints, and slander against the skateboard community in order to block the building of the skate park.  But, we have a voice as well!

Over the last few weeks, the skateboard community has rallied to demonstrate their support of the project.  A facebook page "Save the Miami skateboard  park" was started and in a few weeks added over 1,900 members ( Click here to for Page )  and a website was launched to provide news, action items, and other resources for everyone interested in these turn of events. ( Miami Skaters Website )

Because of Grandpa Longboards's commitment to Miami and the development of its skating community, we will be covering this story and its developments.  We have included some other links below that one can read/view in order to see the unfortunate chain of events that have occurred.  The good news is the positive support the project has received from the skateboard community.  Stay tuned!
